Steam Downgrade Guide
Step-by-step guide to downgrading GTA V on Steam on any version.
In order to downgrade the version of GTA V on Steam, you'll need to run a downgrade command in the Steam console. Here's how to produce the command.
There are no known methods to downgrading the Rockstar/Epic Games Launcher versions of GTA V.
- Press the "Windows Key + R" on your keyboard to open the Windows Run menu.
- Type in
steam://open/console
into the run menu. The Steam console will pop up.
You can skip to the current download command now if you prefer. Otherwise, follow the rest of the instructions to learn how to retrieve this command yourself.

- Inside it, you'll need to modify this command to have the correct details:
download_depot
APP_ID
VERSION_ID
MANIFEST_ID
GTA V's APP_ID
will always be 271590 (found here).
- In order to get the correct
VERSION_ID
andMANIFEST_ID
for the previous game version, check the patchnotes page. Click on the latest Patch Title link from the most recent date.

- A page with CHANGED FILES IN THIS UPDATE will appear. Search for
Modified – GTA5.exe
on the page. If there are many changed files in the update and you're unable to find it, use CTRL + F to search the page.

- Once you've found the
Modified – GTA5.exe
, check the top-right "Depot #####" for theVERSION_ID
, and the RED crossed outMANIFEST_ID
for the previous game version. In the above **OUTDATED (check below for latest)** example, the full Steam Console command will be

Upgrading after a new update is out
If you'd like to upgrade your game once a new update releases, just "Verify game files" on Steam.
